Toy Command - Squad Survivors is a hero collector idle RPG playable on Android and iOS.

To start, you’ll be experiencing the story from the Collector’s viewpoint. Something’s up in the world of toys, and no one else is well-suited to investigate the events other than the one who owns the entire collection.

Gameplay-wise, there are plenty of identical elements to circa 2010s idle hero collectors. Characters are tiered by rarity, with one exclusive rare Figure that you get the chance to unlock through an exclusive limited banner. Powering up your squad includes increasing levels, progressive gearing, and evolving them to gain new stat ceilings. Duplicate character management for 5-star and above characters is more direct and costlier compared to similar titles. You’ll need a copy of a character and some gems to unlock higher star levels. Unit placement has a tactical layer here because of line buffs that usually affect a row or a column.

The departure from the standard formula starts with a powerful and versatile main character. The protagonist, also the default party leader, has the Mecha Morph feature that allows it to switch between different offensive and defensive forms. This adds flexibility to party formations, particularly when your starting roster has to use 4-star and below characters. Game progression is identical to early hero collectors, where a player needs to finish at least a hundred main story battles to unlock the next tier. These power-ups range from passive stat sticks to allies that directly affect the battlefield. Another feature is that limit breaks are not based on individual characters but come as a single feature called “Squad Level”. This defines the level limit based on how high this general team buff is.

There are 4 ways to get characters. The Blind Box facility in your Base covers the 3 non-time-limited gacha modes. Normal tickets are for 3 and 4-stars, Premium coupons have a chance for 5-stars, while the Series versions offer a low chance for limited Figures to appear. Limited characters represent the game’s paywall. Series tickets are rare and hard to come by, and there’s a hard cap on using Diamonds in the Limited banner. Some may be lucky to get 1 or 2 copies, but getting a character to the highest 15-star state means these limited edition 5-stars need a sizable monetary investment to be possible.

Combat is standard idle game fare. Main story stages have a definite number of minor enemies that your party needs to defeat for the boss party to appear. Regardless if you use manual or auto combat, your Figures attack the closest clump of enemies, and there’s a big chance that your party will split in different directions to chase off. Each figure has a unique skill with a reuse timer. Self-targeting or map-wide abilities are ‘one tap, and you’re good’, while others have the ‘aim’: tap and drag it to the desired direction for the effect to activate.

Game content is staples from classic hero-collecting apps. Apart from an endless main story, there is an assortment of challenge rounds, raid boss battles, and team-on-team action in Arena. Rewards range from tickets, Diamonds, to equipment to fit your squad.
