The cast of mobile RPGs is bloated. We’re not complaining, it’s just that it’s difficult to choose which game to play. If you’re currently trying to find an answer to your gaming woes, then trying out Starlight Legend may be shorten your search. It’s a decent addition to the ever-growing cast of mobile RPGs, perfect for both casual and hardcore gamers alike.
Starlight Legend starts off in typical RPG fashion. Your first task is to create your character by picking a name, gender, and choosing from one of these classes: Mage, Warrior, and Archer. Although the options are limited, it favors gamers who aren’t looking for anything complex, like intricate skill trees and complicated gameplay. If you’re looking for a deep and immersive RPG though, this may not be the game you’re looking for, but it’s worth a try.
One of the main differences Starlight Legend has over other MMORPGs is it looking more like a 2D platformer instead of a legitimate RPG. Think of the setting and presentation as something similar to Grandchase, though on an open world instead of a lobby or an arena. You’ll only need to move left and right, as well as jump on elevated areas and drop to ones below to navigate around the world. There will be NPCs and even buildings scattered around the 2D world, and thanks to this, the game doesn’t lack in the immersion aspect.
In terms of presentation, Starlight Legend looks to be inspired by Japanese anime: its art style in both the characters and the world suggests as much. The world is beautifully-crafted, and even the monsters look well-made. There are elements like giant mushrooms, stone towers, and plants everywhere, making it seem like a living world comparable to more popular RPGs.
You start off pretty much as a penniless character, with only an undershirt, shorts, and a baseball cap to your name. As a player, you’ll need to start from scratch and turn your newbie adventurer into a legend, and you can do this by progressing throughout the game. How? Well, you can take monster kill quests from NPCs, who may ask you to kill a certain number of monsters. By completing these quests, you will gain experience and items.
The game does a fantastic job in helping you progress through levels, making it feel like you’re actually earning something. You will end up getting pets and new equipment as you level up, giving you more to look forward to and at the same time, customize your character according to your preferences. You will also earn new skills and abilities, allowing you to defeat monsters through action-packed combos and powerful moves.
One of the main draws of Starlight Legend is its social capabilities. Not only are you able to “fall in love” with other characters, but also team up with them to fight in guild war tournaments. There are also exclusive events you would want to be a part of, making it a game you would want to keep playing for months on end.
Although Starlight Legend does have its gripes, like the localization problems, it still is a decent RPG. It’s a perfect game for casual gamers, though hardcore RPG fans might want something with more depth. Nevertheless, it’s a must-try.
