The resources you need are Fish, Mushrooms and Fire Ale, each of these is used in different ways and you can grow them yourself in your village. Upgrading them is also a good idea to increase their production levels.
When you start playing there is an introduction quest series, that at the end has a lot of rewards and shows you how to play the game, collect units attack and defend. One of the new features is being able to watch the battles in real time as you play. Here you can see what happens, when you win and lose and what unites you are fighting against, the graphics here are also fun and show the fights in a simple way.
Once you get the ball rolling you are free to create an army and then take on the many npc battles, or to go out and try your hand at the PvP side of the game. You begin play protected for 3 days but from then on you will need to defend yourself as best as you can. There are also diplomatic channels available and you can join a guild too for mutual protection.
