You were attacked and left for dead by a mob of gangsters, but before you know it, you found yourself in another world! A trope that is widely known for anime and manhwa fans as the main character was transported to a place beyond our own. There, they start a new one and are familiarized with the world’s magic system. What is more important now that the main character settles in this strange land is the fact they must get to know it, the people living, and the monsters that lurk within.
That would be your typical Isekai story that game developers Spring came to mind. Players will get their hands on this kind of experience as Mujin, the main hero, finds himself in another world where he meets a mysterious girl named Jenny Pink who offers him an offer: In order to have the chance to go back into his world, he must join battles and win. Driven by revenge, he accepts the challenge.
How thoughtful that the game mechanics can function in two ways: Manual or Auto. In Manual, it is the traditional joystick and attack button to move around while slashing enemies according to the player’s instincts. But, if they still want to play but do not have the luxury of doing so, let us say tasking themselves with real-life errands, there is a dedicated button for Auto mode, there, Mujin will automatically attack enemies around him head-on.
No matter which two, players will experience the impactful hits Mujin does to enemies. Afterward, they drop rewards such as Cryptobit for gears, spells, and Jenny upgrades and Coins for hero stats. Unbelievably, players get to grind out up to 100 gears to make the hero stronger in battle. Conveniently, aside from being able to promote equipment, Mujin can be equipped with the best ones with the push of a button. Not only can playing idly get you anywhere, but cosmetics for the hero and Jenny come with beneficial buffs to aid even more in battle. You know the rules: the higher the rarity, the stats.
After clearing a number of enemies required, of course there would be a boss battle. Sounds simple enough for you to just sit back and watch as Mujin automatically attacks the big bad of the stage, but be certain he has grown more powerful to finish the boss quickly before the timer runs out.
There is also the dungeon. By using special keys, players get to fight unique enemies to get special rewards that they do not get at normal levels. But then again, make sure to upgrade your hero and equip skills that suit your preference or equip the best ones to progress your power level even further.
What is even greater is that your character still gets to grind even if you are offline. So, the next time you log in, expect a welcoming amount of rewards. No need to be competitive, for there is finally a way to level up when taking a break.
In fairness, at the beginning of the game, we even get to read 43 pages worth of anime-manga like story that is originally illustrated. After the prologue, we get to see the smooth 2D animation in action. What really sets this as a literal video game is the fact it has a science fiction theme to it. Like the other world is a virtual one.
Battle Ranker in Another World shows that an AFK RPG game can be action packed, although player have the choice to control the actions manually. When taking a breather from the game, the game find itself to grind and get rewards for convenience. It is a nice addition to any mobile device, which is available free on Android and iOS.
