World on Fire is a massive multiplayer online, real-time strategy military game that puts you in the shoes of a general in command of a base. It is your duty as the commanding officer to build up and fortify the base as you strengthen your military prowess in preparation for the inevitable battles ahead. Gather up whatever resources that you can and bolster your defenses before the shields go down!

For starters, it is vital that you erect as many resource-producing structures as you can to ensure a steady income of supplies. With enough resources, you should always look to upgrade your structures and build more advanced buildings to unlock better troops and research opportunities. Get a barracks running and you can start training up troops and rolling out tanks onto the battlefield.

In the case of resource structures, set up farm plots along the outer ring of your base to grow food. Food is essential for keeping up with the number of troops you have in the base, as well as other things. Additionally, you will want to construct steel factories to gain steel, oil fields for oil production and power station to generate electricity for your base. Keep the resources balanced and you will not have to worry about running low!

The main part of the game takes part in the open world, so you will always have to access the world map to keep tabs of events. There are tons of stuff you can do in the world map, which are direct or indirect interactions with other players in the world. Your base occupies but a small spot on a large open world map, so take your time to explore!

Waiting on resources from your own structures can be a drag, so it is better to also send out your troops to secure resource points. These are scattered throughout the world, and the number of resources you can gather over time increase with the level of the resource point. All you have to do is send as many troops as you can spare to the point, and they will automatically bring them back once the resources are collected.

Rebels are hostile militias that appear in groups across the map. Fighting and defeating rebels will provide you with gear materials as well as resources, so be sure to take them out whenever you can. Do note that every time you defeat a new level of rebels, you will also be given additional bonus rewards.

The scary but most exciting part about the game is fighting against other players online. Other players are also generals with their own bases strewn about the entire map, and you can attack them or be attacked by them at any given time. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the prospect, search for and join an Army, which is basically an alliance of generals so that you can call on their help when the time comes. Joining an Army also has other benefits, such as allowing you to use the Rally option to take on Rebel Fortresses as well as participate in in-game events.

Keeping up with the game may be a little exhausting as you can be subject to an assault at any given time by another player, but the thrill of fighting other players, especially in an Army versus Army situation can be really rewarding as well.
